For this worship after Easter Sunday, again this year we focus our message upon Jesus' disciple Thomas, who in often just described by the unfortunate label, "doubting Thomas."  At DisciplesNet we try to describe each other as God's children without judgment-causing labels before their name, and also try not to use the lens of any one event or characteristic that the world might label them by. We do this because we believe that this is the way God sees us, and are trying to get a sense of God's vision for ourselves and each other.

So in this spirit, we are once again looking at a more complete picture of the disciple Thomas. We are helped in this by the great gifts of two DisciplesNet team members: our message is brought by servant leader Marjorie Hill, and our prayer and part of our communion by Rahul Nirmal.  Marjorie and Rahul both have a deep love for India, where Jesus' disciple Thomas is believed to have traveled to share the Good News of God's love.

Marjorie draws upon much of her lifetime lived in India as a child (where her parents served as missionaries) then as a missionary teacher and servant leader to the people for 40 years.  Ms. Hill speaks a wisdom that, like Thomas, travels the globe.

Rahul Nirmal is a young minister from and working in India with the same goal, of sharing the good news of God's love and desire for us to live and work together peacefully be concerned for each other.  His pastoral prayer and presence at the communion table help to bring that sense of God's presence to the place we call home.

Additional gifts used in this worship are many, but we express special gratitude for use of her beautiful artwork to Helen Elizabeth Hill Sturbaum, sister of Marjorie Hill.  We also thank Angie Nunnally, DisciplesNet video intern, for reading for us, as well as to Dean Phelps, team minister with the Christian Church in Indiana for his help with reading and music.
