Table Meditation (Gospel) for Easter 3b – 18-April-18
18-April-18
"When he was at the table with them, he took bread, blessed and broke it, and gave it to them. Then their eyes were opened, and they recognized him." The disciples that Jesus met on the road to Emmaus knew him at the moment he blessed and broke the bread. It's simple really. This moment at this table is the moment Jesus himself chose for us to remember him by. "As often as you do it, remember me." The Table tells us who Jesus is and what he's done for us. "This is my body and blood, given for you." So come, eat, and remember.
Let us pray.
Prayer:
God, we thank you for this bread and this cup that remind us again of how Jesus gave his life to free us from the power of sin and death. We thank you for Jesus, who willingly gave this great gift to us. As we take this bread and cup, fill us with the same Spirit that empowered Jesus, that we may share the Good News of your love with all we meet.
In the name of Jesus, our Christ, AMEN
