Children’s Moment for 03-Mar-19
03-Mar-19
I went outside to my prickly bush to see if I could find any apples growing on it. I really like apples, but do you know that I couldn't find any at all growing on my prickly bush. Why do you think I couldn't find any apples on my prickly bush?
Well yes, a prickly bush is not an apple tree. I shouldn't expect to find apples on a prickly bush. I'll find apples on an apple tree, right?
Jesus talked to his followers about trees and fruit once and he said, just like one would expect to find apples on an apple tree, you would expect a person who is used to doing good things to keep on doing good things.
What Jesus was saying is that we all need practice. We need to try to do good things and, as we practice doing good things, we'll find that we actually do good things.
For some of us, it may take a lot of practice, so this week I want you to practice doing good things for other people. As you practice good things, you'll get better at it and soon people will know that they can count on you for good things.
Let's pray.
God, we know that doing what is right is hard. Help us to practice it. Help us to do good for others so we get good at it.
Amen.
