Table Meditation (Gospel) for 10-Jun-18
10-Jun-18
"A house divided against itself cannot stand." As we come to the table, we can recognize that we may look at our world in different ways, we may even disagree on how to approach many of the issues of our time. What we cannot do is allow those differences to define us in such a way that we attempt to keep those who disagree with us from the grace of God.
It is the Lord of all who calls each and all to this table and we can only honor that Lord by opening the way for each and all to come.
Let us pray.
Prayer:
God of all, we thank you that Jesus came to show your way to everyone, even us. We thank you for this bread and cup, that people from all times and places take together, that symbolize your love for us that overcomes all barriers that seek to separate us from you and each other, even and especially those of sin and death.
We thank you for Jesus, who showed us what a life of service to all looks like and who gave his life that all could come to you.
As we take these symbols into ourselves, fill us anew with your Spirit that we could also be a part of bringing your presence to all people and crossing boundaries that seek to separate us.
In the name of Jesus, our Christ, AMEN
