7-January-24 (Mark 1:4-11)

If you had something really important to do, what would you do to start? Today, we're going to hear about the baptism of Jesus, which is the way Jesus started his ministry. That means that Jesus thought baptism was important enough for it to start his ministry. Have you thought about baptism yourself? What do you think it means? [wait for answers]
Baptism is way of saying that we intend to live our lives in a way that makes God happy, in a way that helps people to know God loves them.
Baptism is one way we can say that we want to join with all the people of the Church and show God's love to the world.
Let's talk to God about that.

Prayer:

God, who sent your son to us to teach us how to love you. Help us to remember to love others in the way that you love us. Help us to decide to do that and, when we're ready, to be baptized just as God was.
