1-May-22 Third Sunday of Easter (John 21:1-19)

In our gospel story for today, Jesus meets his disciples for the third time since he rose from the dead. This time he meets them on the seashore and shares a breakfast with them. It's not a big thing. In fact, it's a rather normal thing. They probably ate breakfast together many, many times when they and Jesus were travelling about doing ministry.
It does tell us something though: Sometimes Jesus meets us in amazing experiences that are big and awesome and powerful. But sometimes Jesus meets us in the small experiences that are normal and usual. The thing is, Jesus is with us in everything we do and wherever we go. So, remember the next time you're doing something really ordinary, that Jesus is also with you while you're doing that. Jesus is with you when you're playing, when you're eating, even when you're sleeping.

Prayer:

God, we thank you that Jesus is always with us. Thank you for the way you love us and are with us, whether we're doing something fantastic and big or whether we're doing something normal and small. Thank you for being with us no matter what.
