7-Jun-26 (Genesis 12:1-9)

Have you ever had to do something really important, where people were counting on you to do it? [Wait for answers]
In the Old Testament reading for today, God tells Abraham that God wants him to do something very important, but to do it, Abraham is going to have to move to a new place and, along the way, Abraham is going to have to deal with a lot of people he doesn't know yet and do things he hasn't done yet too. That sounds pretty hard, doesn't it?
But God says that, if Abraham does this, God will bless Abraham in such a way that through him, the whole world will be blessed. Wow. Imagine doing something so important that the whole world is blessed by it.
All of us may not be called by God to do something that big, but all of us are called by God to be a blessing where we are; to show people God's love through what we do.

Let's talk to God about that.
God, we thank you that you showed us your love through the people around us. Help us to share you love with the people we meet so that, through us, our small part of the world will be blessed. Help us to be a blessing.
