1-Aug-21 (John 6:24-35)

In today's story from the gospel, Jesus says, "I am the bread of life." Let's talk a bit about bread. What is bread good for? [wait for answers]
That's right. Bread is good for food and it goes with everything. And, even if you don't have anything else to eat, bread will do.
Bread is what that call a "staple." That means it's one of the basic things you need.
So when Jesus says, "I am the bread of life." what he means is that Jesus is one of the basic things you need in order to live the way you should. We need Jesus to help us to live lives that serve God and others. Jesus shows us how to do that.
Jesus also helps us so that, even when we're weak, we can still do what God wants us to do. Jesus gives us the strength to live in the right way.
Let's talk to God about that.
God, we thank you that you gave us Jesus to be our bread of life. Help us to remember to turn to Jesus when we feel weak or uncertain. Help us to grow up into strong people who love you and love others.
