Offering Meditation for Christmas A1 – 28-Dec-25
28-Dec-25 (Matthew 2:13-23)
The gospel lesson for today tells stories of suffering and fear that took place at the same time as God was at work bringing life and hope through the coming of Jesus. This is sadly often the case: As God is at work in our world, the world sometimes pushes back with fear and pain. It is part of the work of the Church to help people who have to deal with these aspects of living in our world of woes. For those who are refugees, fleeing from persecutions, for those parents who are afraid for the life of their children who are threatened by the regimes seeking to control through fear, for all those who are on the outskirts of society, forgotten and alone, the Church stands as God's representatives of grace, love, care, and help.
Our offerings go to support this work, both nearby and far away. Please consider giving generously as the deacons come to collect our offering for today.
Prayer:
God who comes to us in all times of life, including those times when we know fear and pain, help us to give generously of our resources and time and abilities, that the world in the midst of suffering and pain will also know your love and care.
Bless these offerings and use them to continue this work.
We pray in the name of Jesus, our Risen Lord, Amen.
