Offering Meditation for Easter 2a – 12-Apr-26
12-Apr-26 (John 20:19-31)
We can say a lot about Thomas (and a lot has already been said), but at least we can say that he wanted to see some evidence of Jesus' presence. In our world today, people often ask for the same thing. Not so much to be able to touch him, but evidence that the Church really believes in Jesus and follows Jesus' teachings.
What most are looking for is evidence that Jesus makes a difference to us.
What will we show them? Will we carry on Jesus' ministry to help those who are suffering or in need? Will we carry on Jesus' ministry to bring justice and peace to the world? Will we lift up the least, the lost, and the forgotten?
One way we do that is through our offerings. The financial resources we provide not only keep this congregation meeting and this building running, but also go to support the continued work of Jesus throughout our world.
Consider what you will give to provide evidence that Jesus makes a difference as the deacons come to collect our offering for today.
Prayer:
Please join me in a spirit of prayer.
God who reaches out in love to every one and all people, give us generous and open hearts to continue your work in the world through what we personally do and through the gifts we bring.
Bless these gifts for your purposes in the greater work of the Church, that through them, people will know your presence.
We pray in the name of Jesus, our risen Lord. AMEN.
