Offering Meditation for Easter 5a – 3-May-26
3-May-26 (John 14:1-14)
Jesus tells us that, in God's realm, there is a place for everyone, a place they can call home. It's an indication that even those who are usually forgotten should be considered. There are those who hold that the Realm of God is not simply some future hope, but that we should be working to make it a present reality. To provide safety and shelter for all of God's children is a thing for here and now, not just a distant "some time."
To do that, we need to give of our time, efforts, and resources to do that work ourselves and to engage others to do it in God's name for us.
That's part of what our offerings go to do.
The opportunity to participate in this work is coming right now as the deacons come to take up our offering for today.
Prayer:
God of all of us, especially those who are often forgotten. Give us generous hearts to help those in need around us. Help us to be a part of bringing your realm into being.
Bless these offerings that they would also be used in that important work.
We pray in the name of our Lord, Jesus. AMEN.
