Offering Meditation for Lent 3a – 8-Mar-26
8-Mar-26 (John 4:5-42)
Before people can recognize God's love, they usually have to see it in a concrete form. For the woman at the well, it was a Jew who talked with her rather than yelling at her about what was wrong with her. It was someone who listened past the points of her life that even she probably had playing through her head. She saw the love of God through kind actions and concern for her. It changed her life and she immediately sought out others to share it with.
Our offering is one way we share the love of God with others in concrete ways. In addition to teaching what God has called us to be, we meet the needs of people where they are. We care for the sick. We help those who are without food, clothing, or shelter. We care for those who are suffering. And through those concrete actions, people will begin to know that God loves each and every one.
Consider what you have to give to help this work go forward as the deacons come to collect our offering for today.
Prayer:
Please join me now in a spirt of prayer.
God, who sent us Jesus, so we could see your love in concrete actions, who sent us caring people so we could see that love in action here and now, help us to be your hand and feet in a world that needs to know your love.
Bless these offerings as well, that they would be put to use to share your love where we are and also where we can send others in your name.
We pray in the name of Jesus, who gave his life for us, Amen.
