6-Jul-25 (Luke 10:1-11)

Why do we give? Some might say that we give because it makes us feel good. Others might say that it's enlightened care for others. Some might say that we give because we have and they don't. There are a lot of answers to the question, especially if we're honest.
But I think primarily God intends us to give out of gratitude. We are grateful for the gifts and talents which God has given us. We are grateful for the resources we have. Out of gratitude for God so richly giving to us, we give so others will also be blessed.
Our joy comes in knowing that our names are written in the Book of Life and we give because we have so richly received.
Let's consider that as the deacons come to collect our offering for today.

Prayer:

Please join me now in the spirit of prayer.
God whose love for us is shown in all the ways you provide and give to us, give us generous hearts to share those blessings with others, so that your love will be known throughout this earth.
Bless these gifts, that they would be used wisely and well, to accomplish the goals of your Realm and rule.
In the name of Jesus, our Risen Lord, Amen.
