Offering Meditation for Proper C25 – 26-Oct-25
26-Oct-25 (Luke 18:9-14)
The messages we get from Jesus' parable for today are fairly obvious, most importantly that we remember who God is and who we are and approach God with humility. I would call attention to only one thing more: The Pharisee did actually recognize the importance of offering to God our resources and our time. He unfortunately thought that that should put him in well with God instead of being only a reasonable expectation of one who seeks to serve God.
As we bring our offerings for today, there is much to be appreciated in the generousness and consistency of our people and their offerings. However, let us also remember that we are only doing what is right and reasonably expected.
The deacons will now come to collect our offering for today.
Prayer:
Please join me in the spirit of prayer.
God whose grace knows no end, we thank you for all the ways you have blessed us in our lives, our work, and in our daily lives. Give us humble and generous hearts that we may offer back to you a portion of what you have blessed us with.
Bless these gifts as well, that they be put into good and proper use in your work here in this church, in our community, and in the wider world.
We pray in the name of Jesus, our Risen Lord, Amen.
