Offering Meditation for Proper 18a – 6-September-26
6-Sep-26 (Matthew 18:15-28)
Even in difficult situations, Jesus focuses on restoring and building relationships if possible. Likewise, we who follow in Jesus' way need to focus on restoring and building relationships. We do that most of all by showing genuine and authentic love for people, by meeting them where they are and helping them with their real needs and struggles. Much of the work of the Church is helping others in concrete ways, helping them to find food, shelter, clothes, peace, safety, and security in a world that is at best indifferent toward them.
One opportunity to take part in that work comes as we take up our offerings.
Consider giving generously to support all the varied works of the Church as our deacons come to collect our offering for today.
Prayer:
Please join me in an attitude of prayer.
Loving God, we are grateful for all the ways you've helped us in the situations we've faced in this world. We remember the times when our own congregation and the larger Church worked to help us in times of need. Give us generous hearts to support this important work.
Bless this offering as well, that it be put to good use in ways that share your love in our congregation, our community, our nation, and the world.
We pray in Jesus' name, AMEN
