Offering Meditation for Proper 20a – 20-September-26
20-Sep-26 (Matthew 20:1-16)
In the story of the workers in the vineyard, everyone it taken care of. It's not an equitable system. It's a system that makes sure each one has enough. It's a story to show how the grace of God works. There isn't much in this world that we can compare it to. There is, maybe, one thing:
Part of the work of the Church is to help to see that those who don't have enough, enough food to live, a safe place they can call home, enough clothes to make their way in the world, are given what they need.
To support this work, we invest our own time and efforts. We also give of our financial resources. All so those who don't have enough will have enough.
Consider how and what you can give to this vital work as the deacons come to collect our offering for today.
Prayer:
Please join me in a spirit of prayer.
Loving God, who has generously given to us, give us generous hearts, that we may give so that others would have enough. Bless these offerings. Put them to use in your work in our world.
We pray in Jesus' name, AMEN
