Offering Meditation for Proper 22a – 4-October-26
4-Oct-26 (Matthew 21:33-46)
Why would someone reject the message of God's love? I don't have a full answer for that, but I do have a partial one. One reason is that they might hear the words, but they don't see it in action, actions like helping those with needs for basic things like food, shelter, or clothing, actions like visiting those who are in prison, in pain, or who are facing the end of life, actions like working for justice, especially for those who are likely to be pushed aside or forgotten.
Our offerings go toward communicating the love of God. We do this in words, but we also do this in action.
Think about how you can participate in showing people God's love in your own actions and in actions you set in motion with your gifts.
Prayer:
Loving God, who loves us, in small and large ways and in all times and places, help us to communicate your love by concrete action. Give us generous hearts to give of our time, our effort, and our resources so others will see your love.
Bless these gifts as well. Put them to good use in your work in our world.
We pray in the way of Jesus. AMEN
