Offering Meditation for Proper C22 – 5-Oct-25
5-Oct-25 (Luke 17:5-10)
In the parable, Jesus talks about the relationship of servant and master. I think it's important not to take our relationship with God too lightly, but it's also important not to live in terror of God. God loves us and wants us to experience life to the fullest. God wants that for all people.
One of the ways we can represent God's presence in our world is to share what we are and what we have to help others to experience the fullness of life. Sometimes that comes in the form of meeting physical needs, food, clothing, shelter. Sometimes it comes in the form of meeting emotional and spiritual needs, praying with them and sitting with them.
We have an opportunity to be present in many ways through our own abilities and presences, but we can also provide the funds for others to go in our place. That's part of what our offering is about.
Please consider your part as the deacons take up our offering for today.
Prayer:
Please join me in a spirt of prayer.
God, who is close than the air we breathe, we want others to feel that closeness and presence. Help us through our abilities and time and in sharing our financial resources to work in ways that people will see you in us.
Bless these offerings, that they will be put to just such a use.
We pray in the name of Jesus, our Risen Lord, Amen.
