Offering Meditation for Proper 25a – 25-October-26
25-Oct-26 (Matthew 27:34-46)
The two great commandments, which encompass the others, are to love God and love others. We should be clear here, the saying we love God and others is fine, but it doesn't provide any evidence. If we truly love God and others, our actions will show it.
One way we have to do that is through the things we personally do, but we can only do so much all by ourselves. Fortunately, the Church brings our resources and the resources of others together, to reach farther than we can ourselves by sending others in the name of God for us.
This is the reason for collecting our offerings.
Please consider your part in this as the deacons come and collect the offering for today.
Prayer:
God who reaches out to our world, let us participate in your work through our own voices, hands, and feet and through the sharing of our resources for others to do the work for us.
Bless these offerings. Put them to good use sharing your love with the world.
We pray in the way of Jesus, our Christ, AMEN.
