Jesus tells us, in our reading for today, that things in the world to come will be different from the world we know now. One thing I hope won't change is the way that our life together is made better by each and every one of us contributing our gifts and our abilities for the good of all. I doubt that financial resources will need to figure into the economy of heaven, but they are a present reality, and the work of the Church is this life depends on our generosity in that area as well.
So, consider how what you have to give, to see the realm of God draw closer as the deacons come to take up our offering for today.

Please join me in a spirit of prayer.
God who is present with us now, help us to prepare to be present with you in the future by giving us generous and open hearts to give of who we are and what we have in the work of your Realm in this world.
Bless these gifts, given back to you. May they be used for purposed that please you, to bring health, wholeness, justice, and peace in this world.
