Offering Meditation for Proper 7a – 21-June-26
21-June-26 (Jeremiah 20:7-13)
The prophet Jeremiah was feeling alone because it seemed as though no one was standing with him. It seemed everyone was speaking evil about him. Yet he was the same one who went on to stand before and demand justice for the oppressed for others, to remind them that they all were called to act in mercy and kindness toward others, especially towards those most likely to be overlooked and forgotten.
In our time of offering, we have the opportunity to stand with others by putting our own resources toward meeting their needs, towards working toward justice for them, towards showing God's love for them in ways that truly matter in their lives.
Consider listening to the voices of prophets like Jeremiah, calling us to love in deed as the deacons come to collect our offering for today.
Prayer:
God of all people, especially those who are often forgotten, give us generous and loving hearts so that we give of ourselves and our resources for those in need, for those who are suffering, for those who need help.
Bless these offerings as well, that they be put to use the ways that bring your love to those most in need of seeing it.
We pray in Jesus' name, AMEN.
