Offering Meditation for Proper C8 – 29-Jun-25
29-Jun-25 (Luke 9:51-62)
To be a Christian is simple to describe, but not easy to do. It takes a singular devotion of our time, our abilities, and our resources to see to it that the poor are helped, the hungry are fed, the suffering are comforted, those who are sick and in prison are visited, and the systems of this world that seek to keep things that way are challenged.
As Jesus says, those who are fit for the realm of God do not spend their time looking back but looking forward to the will of God being done here on Earth.
We have an opportunity to do that right now as our deacons come to take up our offering for today.
Prayer:
Please join me in a spirit of prayer.
Our Lord Jesus, we thank you that you were willing to set your mind and heart on the things of God with all that that cost you. We pray that you would guide us and help us to have that kind of mind in ourselves, to be willing to give completely toward the work of God on Earth.
Bless us with generous and loving hearts and bless these gifts that they would be used well in the bringing of your realm into being.
In the name of Jesus, our Risen Lord, Amen.
