Offering Meditation for Trinity A – 31-May-26
31-May-26 (Matthew 28:16-20)
Many of the words in our scripture for today are what they call "imperative." That means that Jesus is telling us to "go" and "disciple" and "baptize." We can understand "go" and "baptize," but what does it mean to "disciple" others?
Part of that is teaching, of course, but another big part of it is acting it out so others can see, showing others the love of God in concrete actions, demonstrating it. Most people are attracted to the Church because they see God's love in tangible form. They feel the love of God in the love of these people.
Part of that is what we do in person. Part of that is done by deputizing others to do it in the name of God with resources that we provide.
Consider your role in that as the deacons come and collect our offering for today.
Prayer:
Please join me in a spirit of prayer.
God of us all, God who comes to us in many ways and calls for us to be disciples and disciple others, help us to represent you well in this world. Give us generous hearts that we may act in your love for the people around us as well as reaching out in love to those far off.
Bless this offering as well, that it would be put to good use sharing and discipling people both near and far.
We pray in your name, AMEN.
