7-January-24 (Mark 1:4-11)

This morning we remember the baptism of Jesus which marked the beginning of his earthly ministry.  At this Table, we remember his death, which marks it's end.  In both cases, the events show Jesus' obedience to God's plan "so that all righteousness could be done."  Jesus walking the path of obedience to the waters of baptism enabled his life of teaching and example.  His walking the path of obedience to the cross enabled our salvation and life with God.
Let us pray.

Prayer:

God, who gave us your obedient son as savior and example, we thank you.  Thank you for these symbols that remind us that Jesus gave his life so we could live with you.  Thank you for your unfailing and infinite love that it shows.  Fill us now with that love that we may carry the Good News of that love into our world.
