28-Apr-19 Second Sunday of Easter
I can't really fault Thomas for wanting to see the risen Lord for himself. I'd like that too. What I do have is Jesus own assurance that, wherever and whenever we gather, Jesus is with us. What I do have is the glimpses of Jesus in the faces and actions of the folks around the table with me. Even if I can't personally see the risen Lord, I can see the effects of his presence in those live and in my own and that's really what this table is about.
Let us pray.
God whose love is present with us even and especially when we can't see it, we thank you for Jesus, your real presence in this world and your continued presence in our lives. We thank you that he died to show us the depth of that love.
As we take these symbols of his sacrifice, the bread and cup, fill us with the Spirit that empowered Jesus so we too can become evidence of your presence in this world.
In the name of Jesus, our Risen Lord, Amen.
