It seems like such a small thing, a conversation between two people, but it changed the life of one forever. We don't find out in this week's passage, but later we find out that Nicodemus is one of the two Pharisees who made to effort to respect Jesus and eventually ended up following him.
This table may seem like a small thing, but an encounter with Jesus could just change your life forever too.
Let us pray.
God who sent Jesus to us to challenge us and to change us, we thank you for the example he set in living the life of faith. We thank you for the things he taught and the questions he asked. We also thank you that your love is shown most clearly to us in him, especially in the way he gave himself for our sake to show that love.
As we take this bread and cup, symbols of that loving sacrifice, as we encounter Jesus again at the table, transform us. Renew your Spirit within us. Change us that we might better show your love to the world around us.
In the name of Jesus, who gave his life for us, Amen.
