8-Aug-21 (John 6:35, 41-51)

Jesus said, "I am the bread of life. Whoever east of this bread will live forever." This isn't a physical thing, like eating this particular bread and drinking from this particular cup is what gives us life that lasts. It's in the connection we make between us and Jesus, the Lord of this table, who calls us all here. We come to have our souls fed. We come to connect again to our Lord. We come to receive the strength and sustenance we need to go our into the world as Christ's presence in the world.
Let us pray.

Prayer:

God, who gives us a clear vision of what we can be in Jesus, who refreshes and restores us so we can live it out, and who walks beside us every step of the way, we thank you for this bread and cup, symbols of the true bread of life and cup of salvation that we have in Jesus. We thank you for our brothers and sisters that gather at this or other tables throughout our world. Thank you for their witness and the help and inspiration we get from them.
We pray that as we take this bread and cup, you would also pour our your Spirit upon us, that we could show your image to a world that so desperately needs you.
