31-Jul-22 (Colossians 3:12-17)

A wise person once told me that there are only two things that will last forever, our relationship with God and our relationships with each other. Here at the table, those to lasting things come together. We meet our Lord and our God here at the table and we gather together will people in all times and places that have, are, and will come to the table. So this now is an investment in the two things that will last.
Let us pray.

Prayer:

God who came that we might have a right relationship with you and with others, we thank you for Jesus, the one who showed us that way in word and in deed. We thank you that he did not even withhold his own life in order that we might have that. We thank you for this bread and this cup that symbolize his sacrifice for the sake of those relationships.
Now, as we take the bread and cup, fill us again with your Spirit, that we will have the strength and the courage to invest ourselves in these lasting things, now and as we go into your world.
In the name of Jesus, our Risen Lord, Amen.
