Jesus tells the man whom the demons had plagued that he should "Return to your home, and declare how much God has done for you." Most of us won't be recovered from demons today, but many of us will gain an edge on some particular sinfulness that is bothering us. All of us will bask in the gracious, forgiving love of God. All of us will come into God's presence knowing the Christ has opened the way for us.
So all of us should return to our homes and declare how much God has done for us.
Let us pray.
God, who loves us dearly and has freed us from the bonds of sin and death, we thank you for Jesus, the agent of our freedom. We thank you that he did not consider his own life too dear and gave it so we could live with you. We thank you for these symbols of that sacrifice.
Now, as we take this bread and this cup, fill us with the Spirit of the Christ who gave so much for us that we would go from this place ready to enthusiastically tell of how much you've done for us.
In the name of Jesus, our Risen Lord, Amen.
