Stories of our walks of faith from staff, members, and participants of DisciplesNet Church

This is My Story: Beverly Heid #4, Friends Are Where You Find Them

This is the fourth in a series of devotional videos featuring Beverly Carmichael Heid.   In this video, Bev shares how she has found friends in unexpected places, and how those friends have helped her cope with illness and sorrow, even as she has been able to help them.

Beverly, affectionately known as Bev to her friends, is a self-taught pianist who learned to play to bring cheer, hope, and reminders of God's presence at times of personal illness.  She developed quite a list of songs, and has shared her piano playing with persons who find a similar sense of peace from listening to her hymns of faith.

Bev also contributes her music to DisciplesNet Church, an online church especially created to connect with people not able to attend a traditional church, or wishing to connect with the reassuring videos and other resources that are available 24/7.    Bev's music is featured on DisciplesNet in many worships, and in special longer videos of her songs.

Gladly the Cross-Eyed Bear

Rev. Bob Shaw tells the story of rescuing Gladly as a metaphor for God's mercy to us.
Glady is a stuffed bear that came to work at the DisciplesNet studio after something especially scary happened to him! You will need to listen to Rev. Bob Shaw's story to get the details of his rescue.

By the way, Gladly's name comes from the story of the child who heard people in church singing the hymn,"Gladly the Cross I Bear," which is about people following in footsteps of Jesus. But the child thought the adults were singing instead, "Gladly the cross-eyed bear," about a friendly bear somehow connected to Jesus' love.
We hope you'll enjoy this story about Gladly's adventure, and know that God is with you, too, even when scary times come.
