This is where we talk together about our lives of faith.

Gladly the Cross-Eyed Bear

click here for this video on YouTube

Rev. Bob Shaw tells the story of rescuing Gladly as a metaphor for God's mercy to us.
Glady is a stuffed bear that came to work at the DisciplesNet studio after something especially scary happened to him! You will need to listen to Rev. Bob Shaw's story to get the details of his rescue.

By the way, Gladly's name comes from the story of the child who heard people in church singing the hymn,"Gladly the Cross I Bear," which is about people following in footsteps of Jesus. But the child thought the adults were singing instead, "Gladly the cross-eyed bear," about a friendly bear somehow connected to Jesus' love.
We hope you'll enjoy this story about Gladly's adventure, and know that God is with you, too, even when scary times come.

Pastoral Prayer, for children lost to violence

DisciplesNet

We've had requests for the prayer from Sunday DisciplesNet worship #115, addressing the violence against children in China and the USA the previous Friday, December 14, 2012.  This is the prayer which we hope will bring peace to you.

Background music, "O Come Little Children" is played by Pam Barksdale, and special photo is by Michelle Soruco, taken at the Southport Equestrian Center in Indianapolis.

A Prayer for the People

We invite you to join us with your own prayers as you watch this video. If you would like to share your prayers, please feel free to comment on this post.

This prayer was written by Rev. Linda Parker, pastor, Eastside Christian Church, Evansville, IN, USA. It is read by Susan McNeely, DisciplesNet Church.

Thank you for sharing this video and this service with us. I was especially moved by the communion and sharing the words of institution in many languages. It did make me think about the many people who heard God's word in their own language on that first special day when Christ's church was born.… Read the rest “A.P.”

I had the pleasure of being in worship at 35,000 ft (10,500 meters) this morning - great job, worship team. Just as the time for communion arrived, the attendants came by with pretzels and tomato juice. How wonderful, on a Sunday morning surrounded by strangers, to sit at table (well, OK, drop-down airplane tray) with my worldwide church family!… Read the rest “S.M.”
