What does it look like to "clothe yourselves with hearts of compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience"? One thing it looks like is to truly see the needs of others around you and do what you can to meet them. It means demonstrating the love of God to others in actions that bring life, health, peace, and wholeness.
That sounds like a lot, I know, but it there are many ways we can be a part of it and one of them is happening right now. We're about to take up today's offering. This is an opportunity to give of what we have financially to support God's life-giving work not just here in this place, but in our community, our nation and world.
The ushers will now come and take up the offering. As they come, consider your part in giving for the work of God.

Prayer:

Please join me now in a spirit of prayer.
God, who comes to us in as we are, in all our needs, help us to give to your work with generous hearts. Help us to give fully of our time, our abilities, and our finances so that your love would be known here on Earth.
Bless these gifts that we return to you, that they be spent wisely and well.
We pray in the name of Jesus, our Risen Lord, Amen.
