The Psalm for today begins with saying, "Lord, you have been our dwelling place throughout all generations." As we come to the table today, let's consider that we gather not only with the people who are physically together here and now, but with all people who have and will come to the table. We are surrounded by those who have and are and will come together and we are all called to be One Church. Let's recommit ourselves to following Christ and living in fellowship with one another.
Let us pray.
God of all, we thank you for all those who came before us and showed us the way. We pray for those who will come after us that we will pass on all we know of you to them. Help us to serve you by serving each other and to show the world that you are God by being one with each other.
We thank you for these symbols of bread and cup before us, that remind us of all you gave to restore our relationship with you and with others. Fill us now with your Spirit, that we can truly be one and that we can bring your good new into the world that longs to hear it.
In the name of Jesus, our Christ, AMEN
