We created this video especially for children (and adults) who may be ill, injured, fearful, sad or troubled--including in hospital or hospice)--with the idea of bringing hope and assurance of God's love and care. However, we believe that many will find moments of peace in this offering, which features a diversity of children and adults, nature scenes and footage of animals and scenery from around the world. A video journey on the Congo and Lulonga Rivers from Mbandaka to Mampoko. The travelers, members of the Christian Church in Indiana and the Mbandaka district of the Disciples of Christ in Congo stayed overnight in Mampoko and visited Lolonga on the return trip.

A video introduction to a clinic in Mbandaka, Democratic Republic of Congo, where children are treated for malnourishment. The clinic is run by the Mbandaka District of the Disciples of Christ in Congo. Children suffer from both marasmus and kwashiorkor. Parents, and especially mothers, are educated in how to provide better nutrition. Microcredit is also taught as a means of earning money to purchase better food.

We know that such violent acts happen all over the world, leaving people struggling with where to start in their prayers. This is one small offering to help in the process of healing.

Join us for a timely message about being one as the body of Christ to be able to work in the world. "Tending the nets" is one of the core values of DisciplesNet, and we see it reflected in commitment to Jesus' unity prayer "that they may be one, so that the world will know that you sent me and have loved them…"
A special feature on this worship is the message of our senior pastor, Deb Phelps, filmed at the consecrated grounds of the Chapel in the Meadow. This small chapel is about 30 miles south of Indianapolis where our Disciples Net worship center is located. On these grounds, skilled Italian artisans who were Prisoners of War in 1943 built a small chapel there for worship, finding in their faith a way to connect and come together as one, despite the war. They even mixed some of their blood into the paints to personalize the artwork there. When Italian prisoners were released, the chapel continued to served German prisoners of war that remained.
Now every year in August on this weekend, the chapel's meaning and story is celebrated, so we celebrate it too, and all those who have worshiped together there in times of war and peace. We hope that some of our viewers in Italy and Germany will find special meaning in this chapel.

Finally, our special prayers go out to a number of people who were injured and some killed in the collapse of a stage riggings at the Indiana State Fairgrounds during a storm not far from our DisciplesNet office.
