In Matthew 13:1-9 and 18-13, Jesus tells the story of a sower. One wonders what the disciples were thinking as they heard this story. We ourselves might struggle a bit to find the meanings in it. "I don’t understand myself at all", the Apostle Paul writes. He goes on to talk about the grasp that sin has upon him and other humans—how even though we know the right thing to do, we end up not doing it, and instead doing what we know is wrong. Pastor Russ helps us look at this in our worship today, looking at the question, “How Then Shall We Live?” from Romans 7:15-24.

The story of Abraham being called to sacrifice his son is a puzzling one. We wrestle with the implications. "Why would God do this?" "What does this really mean?"
