DisciplesNet Worship #614: Epiphany 6 (Shaw 2.13.2022)

To watch this worship service on YouTube, click here.

When Jesus talks about those who are blessed in the realm of God, he names a lot of folks we wouldn't expect, the poor, the suffering, the meek. Pastor Bob speaks to us from Luke 6:17-26 to help us understand how the blessings (and the related woes) are part of the way the realm of God works.
This worship service is just over 30 minutes of worship, prayer, scripture, a few favorite hymns, and communion. You may choose to participate, or simply meditate as we tell of Jesus' invitation to "do this in remembrance of me." If you would like to share with us at the table that goes beyond earthly boundaries of time, place, and structure, we ask that you prepare a piece of bread of some type and a drink such as grape juice, wine, or water. As we pray, our prayers extend to where you are. If you are unable to eat or drink, you may want to use a symbolic gesture or mental symbol as you come together at this table of remembrance with us.

Normally, blessings are things that we receive quietly and gratefully, but what happens when the blessing is overwhelming, like that catch of fish that nearly swamped two boats from Luke 5:1-11? Pastor Anita speaks to us from that passage and helps us to understand what to do when we receive and overwhelming blessing.
This worship service is just over 29 minutes of worship, prayer, scripture, a few favorite hymns, and communion. As Christians, we are all called to share God's words with the world. How do we do that? How can we speak God's words without inserting too much of ourselves into them? How can we speak God's words and also hear them ourselves? Pastor Russ speaks to us from Jeremiah 1:4-10 and helps us to see how we can indeed speak God's words.
This worship service is 28 minutes of worship, prayer, scripture, a few favorite hymns, and communion. You may choose to participate, or simply meditate as we tell of Jesus' invitation to "do this in remembrance of me." When we as Christians refer to Jesus as the Messiah, what do we mean. For us Jesus is the one sent by God into the world to help us understand who God is and what God wants of us. Pastor Bob speaks to us from Luke 4:14-27 about Jesus as our Messiah and helps us understand the specific thing that Jesus meant when he claimed that title.
This worship service is 30 minutes of worship, prayer, scripture, a few favorite hymns, and communion. Who is Jesus? Is he a prophet that calls people to repentance and renewed faith in God? Is he a leader who leads people in the righteous way? Pastor Audrey teaches from the early chapters of John, including today's gospel scripture John 2:1-11 as well as 1 Corinthians 12:1-11 to help us see the answer to that question. "Who is Jesus?"
