DisciplesNet Worship #605: Advent 4 (Smith 12.19.2021)

To watch this worship service on YouTube, click here.

Even at the time of Jesus, when it was also known as "the City of David," Bethlehem was a most unlikely place for a king to be born. Yet, the small, out of the way, village was to be the birthplace of the savior. Pastor Russ speaks to us from Micah 5:2-5a, read in our Advent Candle lighting, and helps us see that God is to be expected in unlikely places, including our own hearts.
This worship service is 29 minutes of worship, prayer, scripture, a few favorite hymns, and communion. You may choose to participate, or simply meditate as we tell of Jesus' invitation to "do this in remembrance of me." If you would like to share with us at the table that goes beyond earthly boundaries of time, place, and structure, we ask that you prepare a piece of bread of some type and a drink such as grape juice, wine, or water. As we pray, our prayers extend to where you are. If you are unable to eat or drink, you may want to use a symbolic gesture or mental symbol as you come together at this table of remembrance with us.

DisciplesNet Worship #603: Advent 2 (Webb 12.05.2021)

Through the words of the prophet Malachi, God's people hear God's intention to send refine them "as silver and gold are refined". Silver and gold are refined in a super-heated fire that melts them and allows impurities to rise to the surface where they can be removed. This does not sound like a pleasant process, yet Rev. Charles Webb Jr speaks to us from Malachi 2:17-3:4 and helps us to see that we need not fear that refining fire.
This worship service is just over 28 minutes of worship, prayer, scripture, a few favorite hymns, and communion. DisciplesNet Worship #601: Reign of Christ (Smith 11.21.2021)

We call Jesus our king, but Jesus was a king in a very different way than others. His kingdom was based on love, not power. His power was based in making us all we are meant to be, not in forcing us to follow a cold set of rules. Pastor Russ speaks to us from John 18:33-37 to show us how Jesus is a different kind of king.
This worship service is just over 28 minutes of worship, prayer, scripture, a few favorite hymns, and communion. We learned very early at DisciplesNet that good videos need to be planned out ahead of time. In this video, we'll talk about scripting and preparation that make for good recording, editing, and a good finished video. These are some of things about planning videos that we at DisciplesNet have discovered along the way.

DisciplesNet Worship #600: Anniversary (various 11.14.2021)

To watch this worship service on YouTube, click here.

If there's anything recent years have taught us, it's that life can have many unexpected turns and not all of them immediately bring joy and hope. So it is that for our 11th Anniversary Service, we've chosen the theme "and yet...", indicating God's ability to work through even difficult circumstances. Our scripture, Psalm 13 begins with a lament, and yet in the middle turns to praise and hope. This kind of "and yet..." moment is where we'll focus several short messages from our DisciplesNet staff.
This service also includes a number of hymns with an "and yet..." theme. We hope that you'll be thinking of moments in your own life where God has reframed your circumstances to bring hope and encouragement as you worship with us.
This worship service is 30 minutes of worship, prayer, scripture, a few favorite hymns, and communion.
