DisciplesNet Worship #825 (Cobb, 02.22.2026)

After Jesus was baptized and starting out his ministry--he had a tough and remarkable experience that connected him in a unique way with God's children here on earth. What was it, and how did he get through? We invite you to join Pastor Anita Cobb as she brings the message today, based upon Matthew 4:1-14.
During our just-under-26-minute time together we hope that you will sing along on the hymns and join in our prayer and scripture.

At the last part of worship, we'll be sharing in a time of communion: breaking of the bread together. This is a symbolic act for us, remembering Jesus' words to his disciples at the last supper, to share in the communion in remembrance of him.

If you prefer, you can use the few minutes of communion for prayer and meditation. If you would like to share in communion with us physically, please have ready a piece of bread or similar food, and some type of drink (we use grape juice, but other drinks will work). These represent the broken body and the blood of Jesus Christ given on our behalf. As we pray for the communion, our prayer includes what is on the table before you.

We invite you to travel with us this week to the Sea of Galilee, where Pastor Audrey Borschel explores Jesus' teachings in the sermon on the mount from Matthew 5:1-12 and Matthew 5:21-37. During this just under 28-minute worship, we hope that you will sing along on the old hymns, join in prayer and scripture reading. We also have a special two-part reading of the beatitudes, and hope that you will take a part.

They were going about it all wrong, and God wanted them to know it! It wasn't as much their ritual acts and words that God wanted, but rather righteous acts and words. As we worship this week, we will look at Isaiah 58 and in the Beatitudes of Matthew 5:3-12, to get a closer look at God's heart and will for our lives.

Pastor Carolynn Miller speaks to us from a variety of scriptures including Psalm 98, Isaiah 55:12, Psalm 96, Psalm 148, Psalm 150, and Luke 19:36-40 about living in joy even in spite of our circumstances.
Join us for 30 minutes of worship, prayer, scripture, a number of favorite hymns, and communion. You may choose to participate or simply meditate as we tell of Jesus' invitation to "do this in remembrance of me." If you would like to share with us at the table that goes beyond earthly boundaries of time, place, and structure, we ask that you prepare a piece of bread of some type and a drink such as grape juice, wine, or water. As we pray, our prayers extend to where you are. If you are unable to eat or drink, you may want to use a symbolic gesture or mental symbol as you come together at this table of remembrance with us.
