DisciplesNet Worship #116 Phelps, “The Continuing Story” (Phelps, 12.18.2012)

We invite you to join us this Christmas for this week's worship, with a special message of hope from our Senior Pastor, "The Story Continues."  Our worship was especially created with the understanding that while some of our listeners may experience this holiday season as  "The Most Wonderful Time of the Year," as the song goes,  for others, it is the opposite, perhaps a very painful time.  Whether you are one full of joy, sorrow, or a combination this season, this worship is for you.

Our worship features special scripture of prophecy, and includes the Christmas story from the Gospel of Luke, read by our leadership team.  Additionally, we offer inspiring special music by the duo Dean Phelps and Twana Harris, with Christmas favorites we've created for you to sing along with, if you'd like.  Beverly Heid provides the background music for our readings.
Today we also light the fourth advent candle,  If you have one at home, you may like to light yours while you follow along in scripture and music.

Our worship also includes a time of communion (breaking of the bread)--for which we extend the invitation given by Jesus Christ to all who would come.  If you would like to share with us in this time at the table that passes all boundaries of place, time, and walls, then we ask that you prepare a wafer, cracker, or bread and a drink, and we ask that our blessing will extend to where you are.  If you are unable to eat or drink, use a symbolic gesture or mental symbols of joining with us. Rev. Dr. Audrey Borschel brings an inspiring  message about prophets then and prophets now for our third Sunday in Advent. This is the SUnday when we light the advent candle of joy, leading up in anticipation to the birth of the Christ child.
If you have an advent candle, you may like to light yours as we light ours during worship.   Our worship is rich with music and opportunities to sing along.
We also have a special prayer in response to the terrible injury and loss of life of children in China and Connecticut as we were preparing our worship video.

DisciplesNet Worship #111, Second Anniversary worship (Watkins 11.11.2012)

DisciplesNet celebrates its second anniversary by receiving a special guest to bring you our message, looking at three special visions, or discernments to bring us closer to God, that we can find at the table.
We are humbled and so grateful that Rev. Dr. Sharon Watkins, the General Minister and President of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in the United States and Canada, took time from her extraordinarily busy schedule to give this message to our DisciplesNet family. This was filmed in the chapel at Disciples Center headquarters in Indianapolis, Indiana, USA.
