DisciplesNet Worship #721: Lent 2 – (Mullen 2.25.2024)

To watch this worship service on YouTube, click here.

In the time proceeding when Jesus was put to death, there were a number of things Jesus needed to address. One of those was to be sure his disciples understood as much as they could about who he was. Pastor Mary Beth speaks to us from Mark 9:2-9 about the transfiguration of Jesus and what the disciples and we can learn from it.
Join us for 30 minutes of worship, prayer, scripture, a number of favorite hymns, and communion. You may choose to participate, or simply meditate as we tell of Jesus' invitation to "do this in remembrance of me." If you would like to share with us at the table that goes beyond earthly boundaries of time, place, and structure, we ask that you prepare a piece of bread of some type and a drink such as grape juice, wine, or water. As we pray, our prayers extend to where you are. If you are unable to eat or drink, you may want to use a symbolic gesture or mental symbol as you come together at this table of remembrance with us.

On the top of a mountain, disciples watched in awe as Jesus was transfigured before their eyes. This experience was not simply to be kept in their hearts. It was to prepare them for the times that were coming when they came down from the mountain. Student minister Mary Beth Mullen speaks to us from Luke 9:28-43a and helps us understand how the times when we see Jesus most clearly are to help us in those other times.
This worship service is just under 29 minutes of worship, prayer, scripture, a few favorite hymns, and communion. You may choose to participate, or simply meditate as we tell of Jesus' invitation to "do this in remembrance of me."
