Offering Meditation for Proper 25a – 29-October-23

DisciplesNet

29-October-23 (Matthew 27:34-46)

"The two Great Commandments are guidelines for all we do in our lives of faith as individuals and as the Church. As such they are appropriate for this time of offering as well. When we consider what we will give back to God for the work of the Church, there are no better guidelines than, support that which embodies our love for God and communicates our love for all people, all our neighbors.… Read the rest “Offering Meditation for Proper 25a – 29-October-23”

Jesus' answer to the Herodians and Pharisees to "give to Caesar what is Caesar's and to God what is God's" sounds simple, but it contains complexities, not only of "how much?" but also of "in what way?" Pastor Bob speaks to us from Matthew 22:15-22 and helps us understand the ways we can give to God what is God's.
Our worship service is just over 29 minutes of prayer, some favorite hymns, teaching, and communion.
You may choose to participate, or simply meditate as we tell of Jesus' invitation to "do this in remembrance of me." If you would like to share with us at the table that goes beyond earthly boundaries of time, place, and structure, we ask that you prepare a piece of bread of some type and a drink such as grape juice, wine, or water. As we pray, our prayers extend to where you are. If you are unable to eat or drink, you may want to use a symbolic gesture or mental symbol as you come together at this table of remembrance with us.

We hope that as you join us for worship you will feel a blessing from being part. Please tell friends, family, and others you know about our online church that is here with doors that are always open, walls as wide as the world, and always room at the table.

Jesus warned people that we wouldn't enter into the Realm of God simply because of who we knew or who we associate with. The Realm of God comes into being in those who act as Jesus acted and share God's love freely and openly. It's both a warning and an invitation. Pastor Deb speaks to us from Matthew 22:1-14, Jesus' story of the wedding feast, and Philippians 4:1-9 and helps us understand how we can be a part of God's emerging realm.
Our worship service is just under 30 minutes of prayer, some favorite hymns, teaching, and communion.
