Rahul Nirmal – Memorial Service

Our beloved brother in Christ and DisciplesNet's India staff member, Rahul Nirmal passed from this world on 29-April-2023.
Here is a service of memory and celebration of Rahul's life which took place physically in Indianapolis, IN on 10-May-2023 and included people that knew Rahul from Indian and the United States.

Encountering the empty tomb leads to a lot of questions. We can handle those questions in a sort of minimal way, keeping our distance, not letting them really affect us. Or, like Peter, we can enter the empty tomb and face the questions directly. Pastor Bob speaks to us from John 20:1-9 recommending than instead of simply stooping to look in, we should boldly enter into thinking over the resurrection and come to a deep understanding of what it means for us.

There are a lot of times the phrase, "Peace be with you." appears in the Gospels. In John 20:19-31 Jesus says it to his disciples as he appears to them after his resurrection. Rev. One of the most common images of Easter is the tomb with the stone rolled away. While this points toward the questions that Easter raises, it does not really provide the answer to what changed for the disciples to propel them out of their hiding to become bold witnesses. Witnesses to what? Not just the empty tomb, but the experiences of the risen, living Lord.
Pastor Russ speaks to us from John 20:1-18 about how the real miracle of Easter, for those disciples and for us, is the encounter with our risen, living Lord.

When we think of Palm Sunday, we normally think of the triumphant entry of Jesus into Jerusalem, riding on a donkey. There's no donkey in our worship service today. We're looking instead at some of the other events of Jesus last week. Pastor Bob speaks to us from Matthew 26 & 27 about what it means to call Jesus "King." He shows how Jesus was powerful in a very different way, one that we should imitate.

We continue our emphasis in this season of Lent on stumbling blocks, those obstacles in our path of life that will cause us to stumble and maybe fall. Today Pastor Mullen speaks to us from John 11:1-45, the story of the resurrection of Lazarus. She helps us see how fear and doubt can cause us to stumble and how recognizing the presence of God in those situations of pain can help us through them.
