DisciplesNet Worship #696: Proper 17A – (Shaw 9.03.2023)

Being a disciple can be hard, and Jesus never promised anything else. But with the difficulty comes the joy of seeing God's realm come into being, seeing people find life and hope in this world. Pastor Bob speaks to us from Matthew 16:13-26 about these things and about Jesus, the one who exemplified the life of faith in God for us.
Our worship service is 28 minutes of prayer, some favorite hymns, teaching, and communion.
You may choose to participate, or simply meditate as we tell of Jesus' invitation to "do this in remembrance of me." If you would like to share with us at the table that goes beyond earthly boundaries of time, place, and structure, we ask that you prepare a piece of bread of some type and a drink such as grape juice, wine, or water. As we pray, our prayers extend to where you are. If you are unable to eat or drink, you may want to use a symbolic gesture or mental symbol as you come together at this table of remembrance with us.

We hope that as you join us for worship you will feel a blessing from being part. Please tell friends, family, and others you know about our online church that is here with doors that are always open, walls as wide as the world, and always room at the table.

INVITATION TO GIVING:
DisciplesNet Church is a not-for-profit church that exists to cross barriers and boundaries to share the Good News of God's redeeming love. We rely on the gifts of our online viewers as we continue to grow and extend our nets around the world.

We also extend the invitation for you to be part of the DisciplesNet ministry by giving a one-time gift, or ongoing, including a tithe. Even the smallest of gifts, like the mustard seed, has a way of growing in amazing ways to share God's word and the love of Jesus Christ. We have a giving page on our website, disciplesnet.org, and email address: giving@disciplesnet.org

God bless you and thank you for joining us!

Welcome to our 12-minute "Gift of Pentecost," with song, scripture, and a trip around the world you'll not soon forget. After our volunteers read the Acts 2:1-2 scripture about the birth of the church at Pentecost, we'll begin our trip around the world, with multiple generations of readers in 17 world languages reminding us of Jesus' Great Commandment (John 13:34-35), "A new commandment I give to you: Love one another."

So what all does one have to do, to come to Christ? People and books will tell you many things that you have to believe and do, tests you have to pass. Yet in today’s message, guest preacher Dean Phelps invites us to look at something at the heart of the matter, looking at Matthew 16:13-16. What do you think? How might this look in your life?
Our worship is 26 minutes long, with singing, prayer, scripture, all designed for you to join in as suits you. We hope that you'll be blessed by worshiping with DisciplesNet, finding ways your own faith in God can grow in theses trying times.

As we do every week, our time together includes a time of communion (breaking of the bread) where you may choose to participate, or simply meditate as we tell of Jesus' invitation to "do this in remembrance of me." Continue reading →

The Parade

DisciplesNet

2 Corinthians 5:20b-6:1  We entreat you on behalf of Christ, be reconciled to God.  For our sake he made him to be sin who knew no sin, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.  As we work together with him, we urge you also not to accept the grace of God in vain.… Read the rest “The Parade”
