This where we gather with each other to pray, hear God’s word, and accept Christ’s invitation to the Table.

DisciplesNet Worship #479: Proper 14 (Smith 08.11.2019)

to watch this worship service on YouTube, click here.

What is it about faith that gives it power? Pastor Russ uses the scripture from Hebrews 11:1-3 & 8-16 to talk about what faith is and isn't and how faith has a place in our lives just as it did in our ancestors in the faith.
Join us for 28 minutes of prayer, scripture, a number of favorite hymns, preaching as well as communion. You may choose to participate, or simply meditate as we tell of Jesus' invitation to "do this in remembrance of me." If you would like to share with us at the table that goes beyond earthly boundaries of time, place, and structure, we ask that you prepare a piece of bread of some type and a drink such as grape juice, wine, or water. As we pray, our prayers extend to where you are. If you are unable to eat or drink, you may want to use a symbolic gesture or mental symbol as you come together at this table of remembrance with us.

There are a lot of things we can do with our time, money, and abilities. However, only some of those things bring life and wholeness to the world and the people around us. Richard Propes uses Isaiah 1:1,10-20 to help us know which are the best things we can do; the things that are the most like what Jesus did.
Join us for 30 minutes of prayer, scripture, a number of favorite hymns, preaching as well as communion. You may choose to participate, or simply meditate as we tell of Jesus' invitation to "do this in remembrance of me." Martha doesn't get the credit her sister Mary gets. It's true that Mary chose the better path as Jesus said, but does that mean we reject Martha's "getting the work done for hospitality's sake" entirely. Rev. Dean Phelps takes us through the account in Luke 10:38-42 and shows us why we might respect Martha's way quite a bit more.
Join us for 29 minutes of prayer, scripture, a number of favorite hymns, preaching as well as communion. to watch this worship service on YouTube, click here.

Who is it that deserves our respect and care? Rev. Ann Munsterman teaches from Luke 10:30-35 and shows us that this is the wrong question to ask. We do better to ask, "Who is a child of God?" or "Who does God love?". In asking those questions we encounter God's radical love for all people and hear the call to love completely as God does.
Join us for 31 minutes of prayer, scripture, a number of favorite hymns, preaching as well as communion. Sometimes the events of our lives seem so large and so difficult that we wonder if there's any way we can make it through. Rev. Dr. Ron Allen speaks from Mark 5:21-34 on how there is something larger than us and the events of our lives that brings life and strength to us. It is the power that Jesus showed in his earthly ministry and makes available to us.
As this worship service is being posted, Dr. Allen is completing 34 years of service as a professor at Christian Theological Seminary. We're grateful for Dr. Allen's work and for the word of encouragement that he brings to us in this worship.
The service includes 31 minutes of prayer, scripture, a number of favorite hymns, preaching as well as communion.
