DisciplesNet Worship #496: Advent 2 (Shaw 12.08.2019)

to watch this worship service on YouTube, click here.

Isaiah 11:1-10 paints a picture of the Realm of God where peace is present and powerful, where wolf will lay down with the lamb. Pastor Bob uses this vision to look at what real peace is and how Jesus coming gives us hope for the day when it will come into full being.
Join us for 29 minutes of prayer, scripture, a number of favorite hymns, preaching as well as communion. You may choose to participate, or simply meditate as we tell of Jesus' invitation to "do this in remembrance of me." If you would like to share with us at the table that goes beyond earthly boundaries of time, place, and structure, we ask that you prepare a piece of bread of some type and a drink such as grape juice, wine, or water. As we pray, our prayers extend to where you are. If you are unable to eat or drink, you may want to use a symbolic gesture or mental symbol as you come together at this table of remembrance with us.

DisciplesNet Worship #494: Reign of Christ (Shaw 11.24.2019)

to watch this worship service on YouTube, click here.

This service marks Reign of Christ or Christ the King Sunday. However, Pastor Bob uses John 18:33-37 to help us understand that Jesus is not the kind of king we're used to in this world. The reign of Christ marks not just a change in the way we think of kings and leaders but a transformation of the way we think of power as well.
Join us for 28 minutes of prayer, scripture, a number of favorite hymns, preaching as well as communion. Human beings are capable of great insights and achievements as well as colossally stupid mistakes. As a result, both science and faith are also capable of both greatness and great failures. How can we seek to bring the best results from our seeking knowledge and faith? Pastor Russ uses James 3:13-18 to help us find an answer to this question.
Join us for 31 minutes of prayer, scripture, a number of favorite hymns, preaching as well as communion. Science can be a powerful means of understanding our world, but sometimes, even with the best intentions, there can be consequences that are much worse than we could hope. Pastor Deb starts with the story of "the Fall" from Genesis 3:2-6 and 14-19 and looks at how faith and science, wisdom and knowledge, can work together to find ways to bring healing and life.

Science and Faith are two powerful ways for us to understand what we see around us.
