DisciplesNet Worship #645: Proper 20 (Nirmal 9.18.2022)

To watch this worship service on YouTube, click here.

Pastor Rahul speaks to us from Luke 16:1-13, the parable of the Dishonest Manager. This is a difficult parable to understand. Is Jesus saying that the manager did well by defrauding his master? Pastor Rahul helps us navigate the twists and turns of the parable and help us to better understand the Realm of God.
This worship service is 30 minutes of worship, prayer, scripture, a few favorite hymns, and communion. You may choose to participate, or simply meditate as we tell of Jesus' invitation to "do this in remembrance of me." If you would like to share with us at the table that goes beyond earthly boundaries of time, place, and structure, we ask that you prepare a piece of bread of some type and a drink such as grape juice, wine, or water. As we pray, our prayers extend to where you are. If you are unable to eat or drink, you may want to use a symbolic gesture or mental symbol as you come together at this table of remembrance with us.

As Paul chose his words for the letter to the people of the Corinth church, what was going through his mind? He could get more 'convert's if he gave the idea that following Christ meant an easy, comfortable life, with nothing bad every happening.   But, no--Paul had to tell them the truth…that sometimes life is hard, very hard.  But that the Good News is that God's love is present with us through all things, and even in our hardship, God uses us and draws us closer.  How does it all work? We hope that you will join us as we worship this week with our message based upon 2 Corinthians 4 and 5. Continue reading →
