DisciplesNet Worship #477: Pentecost+7 (Smith 07.28.2019)

God doesn't need protection from our real thoughts and feelings. God even encourages us to speak plainly in prayer. Pastor Russ speaks from the story of Abraham arguing with God in Genesis 18:20-32 to help us understand this important lesson.
Join us for 29 minutes of prayer, scripture, a number of favorite hymns, preaching as well as communion. You may choose to participate, or simply meditate as we tell of Jesus' invitation to "do this in remembrance of me." If you would like to share with us at the table that goes beyond earthly boundaries of time, place, and structure, we ask that you prepare a piece of bread of some type and a drink such as grape juice, wine, or water. As we pray, our prayers extend to where you are. If you are unable to eat or drink, you may want to use a symbolic gesture or mental symbol as you come together at this table of remembrance with us.

Martha doesn't get the credit her sister Mary gets. It's true that Mary chose the better path as Jesus said, but does that mean we reject Martha's "getting the work done for hospitality's sake" entirely. Rev. Dean Phelps takes us through the account in Luke 10:38-42 and shows us why we might respect Martha's way quite a bit more.
Join us for 29 minutes of prayer, scripture, a number of favorite hymns, preaching as well as communion. DisciplesNet Worship #475: Pentecost+5 (Munsterman 07.14.2019)

to watch this worship service on YouTube, click here.

Who is it that deserves our respect and care? Rev. Ann Munsterman teaches from Luke 10:30-35 and shows us that this is the wrong question to ask. We do better to ask, "Who is a child of God?" or "Who does God love?". In asking those questions we encounter God's radical love for all people and hear the call to love completely as God does.
Join us for 31 minutes of prayer, scripture, a number of favorite hymns, preaching as well as communion. You may choose to participate, or simply meditate as we tell of Jesus' invitation to "do this in remembrance of me." Sometimes the events of our lives seem so large and so difficult that we wonder if there's any way we can make it through. Rev. Dr. Ron Allen speaks from Mark 5:21-34 on how there is something larger than us and the events of our lives that brings life and strength to us. It is the power that Jesus showed in his earthly ministry and makes available to us.
As this worship service is being posted, Dr. Allen is completing 34 years of service as a professor at Christian Theological Seminary. We're grateful for Dr. Allen's work and for the word of encouragement that he brings to us in this worship.
The service includes 31 minutes of prayer, scripture, a number of favorite hymns, preaching as well as communion.
