DisciplesNet Worship #791 Proper 8 – (Shaw 06.29.2025)

To watch this worship service on YouTube, click here.

Being a disciple takes a singular focus, following Jesus and not being distracted by the things of this world. It not easy, but Jesus himself gave us the great example, turning toward Jerusalem, knowing what it would cost him and facing it anyway. Pastor Bob speaks to us from Luke 9:51-62 and helps us to understand this example for when we must face our own costly times.
Join us for 30 minutes of worship, prayer, scripture, a number of favorite hymns, and communion. You may choose to participate or simply meditate as we tell of Jesus' invitation to "do this in remembrance of me." If you would like to share with us at the table that goes beyond earthly boundaries of time, place, and structure, we ask that you prepare a piece of bread of some type and a drink such as grape juice, wine, or water. As we pray, our prayers extend to where you are. If you are unable to eat or drink, you may want to use a symbolic gesture or mental symbol as you come together at this table of remembrance with us.

When we think about God's power and majesty, sometimes awe becomes fear. God is so powerful and so righteous, how can we think we can draw near? Pastor Russ uses the scripture from Hebrews 12:18-29 to help us understand how God bridges that gap and how we can indeed stand before our righteous and powerful God.
Join us for 29 minutes of prayer, scripture, a number of favorite hymns, preaching as well as communion. You may choose to participate, or simply meditate as we tell of Jesus' invitation to "do this in remembrance of me." DisciplesNet Worship #238, “Which Hill?” (Db Phelps, 03.01.2015)

Click here to watch this worship service on YouTube

In one minute disciple Peter is feeling good at having answered Jesus correctly, that he was the Messiah. In the next, Jesus is rebuking Peter, telling him to "get behind him, Satan."
It all had to do with Jesus teaching his disciples about choices--between life and death, saving and losing our lives. We hope you will worship with us as we explore this message, this second Sunday in Lent.  Rev. Deb Phelps brings the message, "Which Hill," with insights on which hill we are called to die upon.
