DisciplesNet Worship #841, Proper 6 (Smith, 06.14.2026)

Jesus says, “The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few." in our scripture for today. Looking at our world today we see people longing for truth, hoping for some justice, wanting to see mercy in action and we can recognize the same fertile ground for people seeing the gospel in us. Pastor Russ speaks to us from Matthew 9:35-38 and encourages us that now is the time to be the Church that our world needs.
Join us for just over 29 minutes of worship, prayer, scripture, a number of favorite hymns, and communion. You may choose to participate or simply meditate as we tell of Jesus' invitation to "do this in remembrance of me." If you would like to share with us at the table that goes beyond earthly boundaries of time, place, and structure, we ask that you prepare a piece of bread of some type and a drink such as grape juice, wine, or water. As we pray, our prayers extend to where you are. If you are unable to eat or drink, you may want to use a symbolic gesture or mental symbol as you come together at this table of remembrance with us.

We see God at God's most awesome in the wonder of the universe around us. More important than being humbled, is the call that God has for us to put our smaller creative power to work in our place and time. Pastor Russ starts with Isaiah 40:21-31 to help us understand that call.
Our 29-minute worship today includes a time of prayer, scripture, singing, preaching as well as communion. You may choose to participate, or simply meditate as we tell of Jesus' invitation to "do this in remembrance of me." If you would like to share with us at the table that goes beyond earthly boundaries of time, place, and structure, we ask that you prepare a piece of bread of some type and a drink such as grape juice, wine, or water.
