DisciplesNet Worship #768 Epiphany 2 – (Borschel 01.19.2025)

To watch this worship service on YouTube, click here.

The first of Jesus' signs occurs at a wedding in Cana of Galilee, where Jesus turns wash-water into fine wine. It's an odd miracle.  Pastor Audrey speaks to us from John 2:1-11 and 1 Corinthians 12:1-11 to help us understand what this sign can it tell us about Jesus and his ministry.
Join us for 29 minutes of worship, prayer, scripture, a number of favorite hymns, and communion. You may choose to participate or simply meditate as we tell of Jesus' invitation to "do this in remembrance of me." If you would like to share with us at the table that goes beyond earthly boundaries of time, place, and structure, we ask that you prepare a piece of bread of some type and a drink such as grape juice, wine, or water. As we pray, our prayers extend to where you are. If you are unable to eat or drink, you may want to use a symbolic gesture or mental symbol as you come together at this table of remembrance with us.

When John the Baptizer's disciples asked Jesus where he was staying, he simply said, "Come and see." Jesus is extending that welcome to us as well, to see where he is and what he is doing. Pastor Amy speaks from John 1:35-42 and asks the question, "Where do you abide?"
This worship service is 25 minutes of worship, prayer, scripture, a few favorite hymns, and communion. You may choose to participate, or simply meditate as we tell of Jesus' invitation to "do this in remembrance of me." “Where are you staying? they asked Jesus. Or rather, “Where do you abide?” These were the young men who would soon become Jesus’ disciples. “Come and see,” Jesus said.
That same question and answer comes through the ages to each person who becomes a disciple of Jesus--and it comes to us today in worship as we look at this question again. We hope that you will come and see, with us, some of what it all means. Continue reading →
